How To Measure

~Inside Mount Installation~

To Find Width: Measure exact distance to the nearest 1/8” between inside surfaces of window frame at the top, middle, and bottom, and use the narrowest width. Do not make any width deductions. To Find Height: Measure exact distance to the nearest 1/8” from inside surface at top of window to sill at the left middle and right and use the longest height. If you prefer blind not to touch sill, deduct ¼”. If there is no sill, measure height to point where blind is to reach.

~Outside Mount Installation~

To Find Width: Measure exact distance to the nearest 1/8” between the outermost points where the blind is to be placed. For optimum light control, this measurement should extend ¾” beyond the window opening on each side (or 1 ½” for the entire width). To Find Height: Measure exact distance to the nearest 1/8” from where the top of the blind will be located to top of sill. If there is no sill or if blind is to overlap window frame, measure to point blind is to reach.

Steps for decorating with blinds

What’s Your Space?
Your needs will depend on the room you are looking to decorate. For example, blackout fabrics are best-suited for bedrooms, while dens or living rooms require glare reducing fabrics for watching television and filtering light.

Sun Exposure
Your room’s level of sun exposure will depend on the direction to which it faces. Rooms facing east will get bright morning sun, while rooms facing west will be exposed to intense afternoon heat and light. You can protect these high exposure rooms with on automated blinds and UV protecting fabrics.
Is Safety a Concern?
If you have small children or pets, long cords can be a hazard. Most of our window coverings offer cordless or automation options. Automation is also helpful for hard-to-reach shades.
The Mood
Finally, a window covering should enhance the atmosphere of your space. Choose a style and fabric that compliments your decorating taste. Shades of red, gold and pink are warm colours while shades of blue, grey and green are cooler colours.

Caring for your drapes

Weekly Care
Use the upholstery brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner to vacuum heavier weight curtains. For light weight curtains, an occasional shaking is more practical to protect delicate fabric.
Washing Drapes
Remove all hardware from your curtains before washing. When washing curtains, be sure to check the care label first. If you're in doubt about your curtains, try spot testing a small corner with a mix of water and detergent. Most washable curtains will need to be washed in cold water with a small amount of laundry detergent.
Drying your Drapes
Line drying or using a low setting on a clothes dryer will both work for washable curtains.  Remove the curtains from the dryer before they are 100% dry. Shoot for a 95% dry removal. Over drying will set wrinkles, but removing while still slightly damp, make ironing curtains a super simple job.
Ironing your Drapes
A quick ironing will be all that is needed. Replace your curtain hardware, and re-hang your curtains.

Delicate lace and sheer curtains may benefit from being hand washed or machine washed inside a mesh bag. This prevents fraying and damage.  Even the sturdiest curtain fabrics will weaken with exposure to sunlight. Use caution with your curtains, especially if they've served your windows for an extended period of time.
